Elena has been our Spanish teacher for over three years, giving weekly tutorials. Due to the pandemic, we have taken her classes both online and in-person. She is a very amiable and fun tutor who also happens to be wicked smart.

She is effective for all levels of Spanish-language learning and personalizes her lessons, creating new materials and activities based on her students. She incorporates practice in speaking, writing, reading, and listening into her teaching; vocabulary, grammar, cultural significance, and even slang and idioms are all covered, too.

Many times, when her students have questions, classes will take a deeper dive into topics such as the etymology of a word or the nuances of a point of grammar. She speaks fluid English and understands the difficulties and misunderstandings which Spanish-language learners typically encounter. We now live in Guadalajara, and confidently rely on Elena’s lessons to both navigate daily life and to enjoy the local cultural offerings (reading books, going to events, watching theater shows, etc.).   

Before Elena, we had taken classes from several other Spanish teachers, including at different universities in the United States. Elena surpasses our other professors by leaps and bounds! She makes learning a new language so enjoyable that our class is often the highlight of our week. We cannot recommend Elena more—you should definitely choose her to help you learn Spanish, too!

Before meeting Elena, I had taken Spanish classes in college, used different apps and even took many hours of private online lessons at a large school.

In 2020 When my wife and I decided to move to Mexico, I knew I really had to improve my Spanish and was lucky to be referred to Elena through one of her former students and that changed everything for me.

She is a highly skilled communicator and the most patient listener. She had the ability to detect my strong and my weak points and like a talented coach and a thoughtful friend, she created all of our lessons around my needs.

I now live in Guadalajara Mexico and I am so grateful for everything Elena did for me to be able to assimilate into my new life so much more easily.

I have come a long way since the day I met Elena online, but I am continuing my weekly lessons with her. We don't discuss pronouns and subjunctives anymore, just have delightful conversations, discussing politics, culture, music and cuisine.

Elena is such a natural and enjoyable teacher!  She shares her deep expertise with a down-to-earth presence. 

Just after moving to Mexico, I came to Elena with low language confidence and lots of fear.  In just four months of lessons, I cannot believe my progress and blossoming love for Spanish! 

Elena’s command of English helps me in every lesson!  She reaches deep into English to help me grasp Spanish grammar, terms and concepts. This skill I appreciate and admire in equal measure. 

Elena teaches me within a learning relationship: attentive to who I am, how I learn, where I’m at and want to go in my Español, and what I need in each lesson.   

But Elena’s true gift is to build your confidence while you’re learning.  I’m never embarrassed to try and always feel comfortable being myself. To me, Elena has the magic touch:  to teach you in the way you learn best. I can’t even imagine a better  teacher!

J'ai commencé à suivre des cours avec Elena en 2020 lorsque j'ai déménagé au Mexique pour enseigner le français pendant un semestre. Je n'avais pas beaucoup de connaissances en espagnol et Elena m'a beaucoup aidée à gagner de la confiance et des connaissances dans cette langue. 

Les cours d'Elena sont très utiles pour communiquer dans la vie en général. Ils sont aussi très utiles pour pratiquer l'expression orale (formelle et informelle), l'écriture, la grammaire, la lecture, l'écoute ainsi que la culture. Elle utilise du matériel authentique, et ses cours sont vraiment adaptés aux besoins des élèves. Quand je veux pratiquer quelque chose en particulier, je le lui dis et on adapte le cours à mes besoins. 

J'apprécie vraiment mes cours avec Elena. Après 3 ans, je peux dire que mon espagnol s'est beaucoup amélioré et grâce à Elena, je peux avoir des conversations dans cette langue. Quand je suis revenue au Canada, j'ai voulu continuer à suivre des cours avec Elena et elle a accepté d'offrir des cours en ligne. Je peux dire que les cours en ligne sont aussi bons que les cours en personne pour apprendre l'espagnol, car Elena est bien organisée, et elle peut facilement adapter le cours à l'apprentissage en ligne. 

Je recommande fortement ses cours à tous ceux qui veulent apprendre l'espagnol de la meilleure façon possible ! Merci Elena pour l’excellente expérience d'apprentissage!

I really appreciate the “building blocks” learning structure that she provides and we always work through each level at my pace.
